Momentum is a self-proclaimed leading startup conference and exhibition taking place for the first time on February 6 and 7 at Karachi Expo Center.
The two-day event is attracting investors, tech leaders, business executives, and academia who will share their stories and highlight the latest trends that will shape the future of business in Pakistan. The participating startups will also pitch their ideas to the potential investors in order to acquire funding. The event is hoping to host over 5000 attendees, numerous startups, investors and incubators from across the country.
In addition to keynote speakers sharing their inspirational stories, there is also a pitching event. Mentors will select 20 startups that will pitch their ideas to the jury and audience. The judges will select 3 of them who will fight for the title ‘Winner of The Pitch at Momentum 2017’ along with a hefty award of PKR 2 million.
Internet of Things (IoT) is a way of communication between physical devices and the internet. It extends internet connectivity beyond laptops, desktops and smartphones to a diverse range of devices with embedded technology to communicate, e.g security systems, thermostats, cars etc. Wireless connectivity is now being added to a wide range of machines, including vehicles, household appliances, monitors and sensors.The momentum conference is focusing on IoT startups. A phenomenon finally finding a good pace in Pakistan with numerous IoT startups sprouting in different cities of the country.
Momentum Conference will be a junction where ideas will meet investment. There are many challenges faced by startups in Pakistan and getting necessary investment is the most crucial one. Momentum will provide a platform to the budding startups and incubators to get funding from investors by pitching their ideas. The discussions with keynote speakers will lead to innovative ideas generation. In addition to the funding, startups will also get mentorship, training and guidance from investors, industry experts and tech leaders. This will lead to promoting startup culture and strengthening the economy of Pakistan.
The startups will also get strategic assistance from partners such as Microsoft, Amazon, P@SHA and IBM. This will enhance their professional network and encourage them to form business ventures and take their technologies to markets, within and outside, of Pakistan.
