MoITT Opens Applications for Key Member IT Position (MP-1 Scale)

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) is currently accepting applications for the post of Member IT (MP-1 Scale).

This position is being offered for a three-year contract with the possibility of an annual two-year extension pending a successful appraisal by the Performance Appraisal Committee. It plays a crucial role in driving the country’s digital transformation and policy development.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification Ph.D. or Master’s degree in ICT-related disciplines (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering) from an HEC-recognized institution.
Professional Experience for Ph.D. Holders Minimum 7 years of experience, including 3 years in senior management.
Professional Experience for Master’s Holders Minimum 9 years of experience, including 3 years in senior management.
Expertise Proficiency in digital technologies, strategic project management, and international IT standards.
Skills Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities.
Age Limit Maximum age: 62 years.

 

The selection process involves a multi-step evaluation, which commences with the shortlisting of candidates by a specialized committee. Subsequently, the Prime Minister is presented with recommendations for final approval. The Member IT will be responsible for reporting to the Secretary of IT and Telecom, and they will be involved in the development of policy, cybersecurity strategies, e-governance programs, and export growth initiatives. The position also involves the development of cloud adoption frameworks, the promotion of entrepreneurship, and the enforcement of privacy and data protection legislation.

Syed Junaid Imam, the current Member IT, will complete his term in January 2025, leaving a vacancy. While his tenure witnessed significant policy advances, obstacles to increasing IT exports persisted. Officials stressed his critical role in establishing the nation’s IT infrastructure, as well as the need for continuity until the next appointment.
