Nokia released 3 smartphones this summer, ranging from the cheaper Nokia 3 to the more expensive Nokia 6. Nokia 5 stands in the middle. Nokia 5 also delivers the purest Android experience without any bloatware. It comes with Android 7 Nougat out of the box and promises to deliver fast updates in the future. Nokia has not released a flagship device yet. It may be waiting to see how well do its phones perform in a budget range category.
Nokia 5 is made of solid aluminum unlike the plastic build of the Nokia 3. It comes in a Mat black finish with rounded edges and the curved back. There’s a little bit of the camera bump at the back which might be unliked by some people. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the home key at the front which makes the access to the phone easier. The home key is surrounded by 2 backlit touch keys for navigation. Backlit keys were missing from the Nokia 3. There is no notification LED on Nokia 5 as well and that is kind of annoying.
The power key and volume buttons are present on the right side of the device. The 5.2-inch screen is covered by Gorilla Glass.
Nokia 5 comes with a 13 MP, f/2.0 rear camera with phase detection autofocus and a dual LED flash. The camera performs good enough in day light conditions but the performance is not satisfactory in low light. However, the main camera captures excellent colors in the bright day light. The front has an 8 MP, f/2.0 camera which is also good. The front camera performs well in all light conditions and it is auto focus, a feature hard to find in this price range.
Unlike the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 performs amazingly well on multitasking. It comes with the Snapdragon 430 chipset with Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 505 GPU. The RAM is still 2 GB but the memory management of Nokia 5 makes the phone perform faster even on low RAM.
The games run very well on the Nokia 5. It handles almost all of the games smoothly. You might need to clear the memory before running a game to make your experience even smoother.
