Mobile phone, internet, and GPRS services will remain suspended on Tuesday (today) in all big cities of the country, except Islamabad on account of the martyrs of Karbala tragedy. The provincial government requested the federal government to suspend mobile services, keeping in mind the security concerns and the precautionary measures that needed to take place on the occasion of a religious mourning event, Chehlum of Imam Hussain which will be observed on Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Monday. The duration of the suspension of these services would be according to the timings of mourning processions in different cities.
The federal government issued the orders related to the suspension of the services on the request which was made by the provincial governments and Azad Jammu and Kashmir government as part of the security measures.
However, Mobile and Internet services will not be suspended in Islamabad, the ministry said.
