We previously reported about Microsoft working on a new design language, codenamed NEON, for Windows 10. Now MSPoweruser has obtained some screenshots which show the new design language in action.
The leaked screenshots come from an unreleased internal build which shows off some of the new design elements that Microsoft is working on. It appears from the screenshots that Microsoft is bringing back some aspects of the “Aero” design language from Windows 7 and merging it with the modern design of Windows 8 and Windows 10.
The new effect is dubbed as “Acrylic” and will allow developers to customize their applications in unique ways. The transparency effect can be applied to a number of areas in the application, ranging from the side navigation bar to the main content screen.
Microsoft is also going to introduce the concept of “connected animations”, which basically means that the elements in an application will react to changes in other elements of the application. A good example of that effect is visible in the Groove music app available by default in Windows 10.
The new design language is expected to roll out in “Redstone 3” update, which is slated for release at the end of this year.
