The latest Microsoft update to their Quantum Development Kit includes new Quantum chemistry library, improved Q# developer experience, and new Q# language capabilities. Q# is basically a domain-specific programming language used for expressing quantum algorithms.
The new quantum chemistry library can be used to develop quantum simulation solutions in the chemistry domain. The Quantum Development Kit now delivers deeper integration with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. This update includes live feedback as you type, with errors indicated by underlined errors and warnings.
The updated Quantum Development Kit is intended for a wide range of designers who are anxious to figure out how to program quantum computers.
The Quantum Development Kit includes the Q# programming language, a quantum computer simulator, integration with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code, an open source community, and a suite of documentation, tutorials, libraries, and sample algorithms.
Microsoft believes quantum computing holds the promise of solving many of today’s otherwise unsolvable problems. The availability of a scalable quantum computer will unlock staggering potential, by helping answer questions that cannot be addressed by present computers, in a practically realistic amount of time.
Quantum computers have the potential to solve the world’s hardest computational problems and forever change our economic, industrial, academic, and societal landscape. The Quantum Development Kit supports a wide range of development platforms including Windows, Linux, and macOS and programming languages such as Python.
