Microsoft is selling its own version of Galaxy S9 and S9+

Microsoft is selling a customized version of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on its online store. Hardware-wise (and price-wise), these phones are similar to any other Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, however, they differ in software.

Samsung is all in on Galaxy S9 variants and is trying everything it can do, to make it a top selling product. Recently Samsung introduced a demo Experience app for everyone to experience Galaxy S9 features on their own handsets and now the Microsoft version of these phones will certainly grab the attention of those people who are used to Microsoft’s apps.

The software of these devices is customized to give users a pure experience of some Microsoft apps. According to Trusted Reviews, the Microsoft version will have Excel, Skype, Cortana, OneNote, PowerPoint, Word and Microsoft Launcher available after phone setup. The apps won’t actually be pre-installed. Instead, the customization will be automatically applied once you connect the devices to wi-fi, after unboxing.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson,

“A Microsoft customization is applied to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus Microsoft Edition when the devices are unboxed and connected to Wi-Fi.”

Just to recall, the Microsoft’s version of Samsung phones is the part of the deal, both companies made in 2015. Samsung started introducing Microsoft’s Skype, OneDrive, and OneNote apps on the Galaxy S6 and S7 devices. Samsung also bundled these apps again on the S8, last year.

As we reported earlier that Galaxy S9 and S9+ are open for pre-orders in Pakistan and today is the last day to book one, in order to get a value coupon worth PKR 5,000.
