Meet the Xiaomi Notebook Air, a budget-version of the Apple Macbook Air

After making its mark in the smartphone arena, Xiaomi is now making way to enter the laptop market. Today, Xiaomi has announced its first-ever laptop, the Mi Notebook Air. According to Xiaomi, the beautiful and ultra-thin Mi Notebook Air will be a direct competitor of Apple’s Macbook Air.

Specifications:

The laptop will feature two models, a 13.3″ version and a lighter (and smaller) 12.5″ version. The 13.3″ version will feature an Intel Core i5 6th generation processor. The notebook will feature 256 GB of the quick SSD memory and an Nvidia GeForce 940MX GPU for gaming. Moreover, the 13.3″ version will also sport a Type-C USB socket for quicker data transfer rates.

The smaller, more battery-efficient 12.5″ Mi Notebook Air will feature a Intel Core M3 processor with an integrated Intel GPU, 128 GB SSD, and no USB Type-C socket. However, according to Xiaomi, the smaller 12.5″ model will last to up to 11.5 hours of continuous use! The Windows-based laptop will come in two color options, gold and silver.

These ultra-slim notebooks feature a aluminium body that is perfectly clean and clear from the outside. There is no logo visible on the outer body as well (a stunt to improve the looks of the notebook?).

Pricing and Availability:

The 1.07 kg 12.5″ version of the Mi Notebook Air will be available for a price of only PKR 52,500 while the more expensive and powerful, 1.28 kg 13.3″ variant will be available for a price tag of PKR 75,000. There is no official word on the international release as of yet but the notebooks will be available in China from 2nd August.

Earlier today, Xiaomi also announced the deca-core Xiaomi Redmi Pro that sports high-end specifications for a price tag of only $230! In just a few years, Xiaomi has risen to become a top smartphone manufacturer. Will it do the same as a laptop manufacturer to challenge the likes of the Apple Macbook?
