We have all heard about 3D printers, they were the coolest thing a few years back and are commonly used for creating complex things such as product prototypes, car parts and machines. However, the Mink Makeup Printer has broken the norm and has created a 3D printer that makes your makeup for you!
Yes, you heard that right, the Mink Makeup Printer allows you to transform images into customized makeup that is easy to apply and will look fantastic. But aren’t 3D printers plastic excreting machines, how can they possibly create makeup?
This makeup printer works a little differently than a 3D printer and is more like an inkjet printer. Inventor Grace Choi, while speaking about the workings of her invention said that “Essentially, it’s similar to an InkJet printer where it takes a substrate, which is coated with a powder, and it takes the ink and it deposits it onto the powder,” said Grace Choi, inventor of the Mink Makeup Printer. “The powder absorbs the ink, and now that ink and powder mixture is instantly wearable”
Once you select a photo for the 3D printer, it will create a similar cosmetic powder. Now this powder can be used for a lot of different things, such as eyeshadows, blushes, face powders, and eyebrow powders. This makes Mink multipurpose, which obviously is what makes it so practical.
A great thing about this makeup printer is the fact that both its powder and makeup sheet is completely recyclable therefore making Mink an environmentally friendly product.
Okay, we know what it does, but why is it any helpful? Well, the Mink 3D makeup printer comes with a mobile application where users can upload the photo they want their makeup to be like. Now, this photo could be a makeup palette they have longed for or the face of a celebrity.
After the photo has been uploaded, anything or the color on the photo gets converted into a pigmented powder for your makeup. Remember those rare makeup colors that you cannot find at any brand? Well, the Mink is your chance to get them.
Excited to buy the 3D Makeup printer? Well, you would have to wait a while since Mink isn’t available for consumers as of now.
