Ever felt that there is a lack of business-focused apps, especially for Pakistan? Well, you are not alone, and thanks to one person who did feel that dearth of decent stock-trading app for the Pakistani audience, meet Investify.
An economics major from LUMS, Rafiq Lightwala is also the person behind Pakistan’s very first tax assistant app and has now released Investify. Investify is an app for the active stock traders in Pakistan who like to keep an eye on the Karachi Stock Exchange(KSE), which has been a real chore due to lack of any proper app. This app solves that by providing quick and real-time access to stocks along with a really elegant way to managing your portfolio. The app is clean, beautifully-designed and is really fluid and responsive. It also follows Google’s Material Design guidelines like the FAB(Floating Action Button), a card UI and the hamburger menu.
Currently working as an Assistant Brand Manager at Colgate Palmolive and enrolled in an evening MBA at IBA, Rafiq still finds time to work on his passion: programming. When asked about his motivation behind the app, he said that being really interested in financial products from the start, he has been learning and using them to improve his saving and investing habits, but then he was shocked to see that there was not even a single app for smartphones for people who wanted to follow KSE. So, he simply ended up making his own app!
Here is a list of things you can do with Investify,
The app is bare-bones and power-users might feel a lack of options but as far as the core part of the app is concerned as a real-time stock manager, it works perfectly well. Just download the app, launch it and you’ll be greeted with a home screen comprising of that day’s highlight business news (from only Tribune for now). You can swipe left to access other sections including “Market”, “Stocks”, “Wactchlist” and “Portfolio”. You can add the stock of any company to your porfolio/watchlist by tapping on the “+” button in front of it. Alternatively, you can tap the company’s name or the little “i” icon and you’ll be taken to the company’s profile page. Here, you can view info like “Live Data” of its stock, fundamental details and technical details.
Swipe from the left-corner and it will bring the Android Side Menu(Hamburger menu) into view. Here, you can switch between the main sections of the app and access the Settings, which only consist of Notification settings yet. Also, the app offers an option to Backup & Restore but that is only available for Pro users of this app.
Rafiq says that although the app is aimed for people actively take trade, the incredibly easy-to-use design of this app should encourage people in other industries as well who just like to casually follow the stock change. The app offers sufficiently advanced features such as fundamentals and technicals to entice heavy users without sacrificing it’s ease of usability.
Investify Stocks is available right now for Android only in two versions: a free version with Ads and a Pro Version that costs PKR 499 in introductory sale(regular cost= 999) with No Ads and an option to Backup & Restore your data. The developer of this app does have plans for an iOS version, but don’t expect it to be out anytime soon.
