The retake of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 in Sindh will be held on December 8, 2024, under the supervision of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur. The IBA has finalized all necessary preparations for the exam, and stringent measures have been implemented to prevent deception at the test centers.
The original MDCAT was annulled by the Sindh High Court (SHC) on October 26, 2024, as a result of irregularities, including the leakage of the exam paper 13 hours before the test. Consequently, this retake is necessary. The SHC instructed the provincial government to administer a new examination within a month following the guidelines of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
Candidates are required to submit their admit cards, as well as one of the following identification documents: a passport, CNIC, domicile, or a marks sheet with a photograph. To prevent overcrowding and guarantee efficient operations, three test centers will be established in Karachi, with additional centers in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana.
To facilitate the 38,609 enrolled candidates, the Sindh government has allocated Rs. 232.140 million, which is equivalent to Rs. 6,000 per candidate. Representatives from Dow University, PMDC, and the Sindh government endorsed the decision to retake the MDCAT. The initial exam, which was administered by Dow University, yielded a success rate of 58.79%, with 22,366 candidates passing.
