Mark Zuckerberg Loses 119 Million Followers, Left With 10,000 Followers Now

Hundreds of users of Meta’s Facebook are complaining about losing the majority of their followers on the social media platform due to unknown reasons. Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg have lost over 119 million followers which have brought down his follower count to below 10,000.

“Facebook created a tsunami that wiped away my almost 900,000 followers and left only 9000 something on the shore. I kind of like Facebook’s comedy” exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen tweeted.

When contacted, a Meta spokesperson said, “We’re aware that some people are seeing inconsistent follower count on their Facebook profiles. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Another news coming out of Mark Zuckerberg’s world is that META continues to build out the functionality of Facebook Reels, this time via a new collaborative Reels option, which would provide a way for users to invite another user to co-author a Reels clip.

As you can see in this example, posted by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, Facebook is currently developing a new ‘Invite Collaborator’ option in the Reels creation flow, which would enable you to add another profile as a co-creator to be listed on your clip.

Which, really, is no big surprise. Facebook parent company Meta has been exploring a range of new options to help maximize exposure opportunities for creators, including Creator Collaborations on Facebook, which enable multiple creators to be listed on a single Facebook post, and ‘Collabs’ on Instagram – which is essentially this exact experiment, but on IG Reels and feed posts.

So it’s pretty much already built the back-end infrastructure for this, it just hasn’t shifted it across to Facebook Reels as well. But it seems that it soon will, and with over 50% of user time on Facebook now spent on video content, and Reels consumption rising fast, it could be a good consideration to help maximize exposure through influencer and brand partnerships.

Maybe that will enable your brand to tap into Reels, without having to create them yourself. It’s still early, with no official word on the experiment as yet – which, it’s worth noting, has not been released for public testing.

Another exciting news that concerns Meta and Facebook is that another tech giant, Microsoft has announced a partnership with Facebook owner Meta to enhance Metaverse hardware integrations and unveiled three new Surface computers at its annual Microsoft Ignite event in New York. The two tech giants will partner to bring Mesh for Microsoft Teams, the virtual reality overlay for Microsoft’s workplace messaging platform, to the Meta Quest VR headset.

Microsoft and Mark Zuckerberg said the integration would allow people to connect and collaborate on smartphones and laptops as though they are in person. Microsoft 365 apps will also be made available for Meta Quest, so people can use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint in VR format. Microsoft also introduced the latest Surface devices, including the Surface Laptop 5, the Surface Pro 9 convertible tablet, and the Surface Studio 2+ all-in-one PC — all of which operate with the Windows 11 operating system.

The Surface Pro 9 is Microsoft’s cross between a laptop and a tablet. It runs on an Intel 12th-generation processor and now has optional 5G connectivity. The device has a 13-inch display and is lightweight starting at 879 g. The Surface Laptop 5 features 12th-generation Intel Core processors. It’s available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch models, both with touchscreens. IT features 17 hours of battery life and a new enhanced camera for face-to-face calls and also has a Thunderbolt 4 port for the first time which connects the laptop to a 4K monitor, charges and delivers fast data transfer for large video files.

The Surface Studio 2+ is Microsoft’s all-in-one desktop PC that will replace the Surface Studio 2 in 2018. The new 28-inch touchscreen device sits on a zero-gravity hinge, which allows users to raise and lower the display. It runs on an 11th-generation Intel Core H-35 Processor. Users can split the display into four different app windows at once. It comes with a USB-C port and a Thunderbolt port. The viewing experience for streaming is also enhanced with Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos for upgraded audio quality.
