Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg asks for forgiveness for how his work was used to divide people.
Mark Zuckerberg has taken his own platform to seek forgiveness for how his work had been used to divide people. The social media post from Mark comes at the end of Yom Kippur, the Jewish holiday of atonement.
He wrote on Facebook,
“For those I hurt this year, I ask forgiveness and I will try to be better. For the ways my work was used to divide people rather than bring us together, I ask forgiveness and I will work to do better. May we all be better in the year ahead, and may you all be inscribed in the book of life.”
Mark has not pointed out any individual incidents regarding the social network. But Facebook has been at the center of the heated debate regarding how the social network was used as a tool to spread false and fake news regarding the presidential candidates.
Facebook has also admitted that an advertising unit apparently based in Russia spent as much as $100,000 to buy ads promoting division and political messages.
After Facebook was threatened to be regulated, it decided to overhaul the way it deals with paid political advertisements on its platforms.
Just recently, Facebook has also confirmed that it is working on a face unlock feature just like Apple’s ID through which users will be able to quickly unlock their devices in case their other authentication methods are not working.
