The Punjab Government has formed a strategic partnership with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Health Services Academy (HSA) Islamabad for cross-sharing of expertise, and technical support on development projects.
The agreements will foster sharing of expertise, opinions, and reports from academia to the Government. The partnership will cover important aspects of a project development including but not limited to planning, designing, implementation, and monitoring. The academia will provide all the technical support it could, ranging from scientific, and technological aspects to financial, and economic analysis. The partnership will ensure that all of the Government projects turn out to be cent percent successful, effective, rehabilitating, and cost-efficient.
In this regard, the Punjab Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with the Health Services Academy Islamabad on Tuesday. Member (Health) P&D Board Punjab Government Dr. Shabana Haider signed the agreements with Associate Professor Dr. Syed Turab Hussain, and Assistant Professor Dr. Saima Hamid from LUMS and HSA Islamabad respectively.
Dr. Shabana Haider, while addressing the ceremony, said that this venture is an excellent example of public-private partnerships with academia putting its expertise in the development sector. She further said that the agreement will strengthen public-private partnerships and bridge the gap between academia, and government.
Having realized the true potential of what close public-private partnerships could garner, the Government of Pakistan has started few projects which focus on bringing Academia, Government, and Industry close to each other. There are numerous projects on the table, while numerous have already gone functional. Lahore Knowledge Park is a mega project which will work to accomplish same goals.
