LinkedIn has unveiled its largest desktop redesign since its inception with simpler and better navigation, pop-up messaging experience and updated search features.
The new web layout looks a lot like mobile app version to provide more intuitive and faster experience. According to LinkedIn, 60% of its traffic comes from the mobile app. The blog reads,
“Our goal is to ensure you can seamlessly access the most relevant professional conversations, content and opportunities whether you’re on our mobile app or on our desktop experience. Most importantly, this desktop redesign brings conversations and content to the heart of the platform, so you can more easily share ideas, join a discussion, and discover news and topics you care about.”
The enhancements include:
The clutter is reduced in the revamped version. The bar includes 7 core areas- Home (Your Feed), Messaging, Jobs, Notifications, Me, My Network, and Search. Also, an option “more” is given which can launch other experiences that matter to users.
The chat box looks a lot like that of Facebook. Users can now chat on their home screen through a pop-up window, rather than going to a separate place that moves them away from their main page.
With universal search bars, users can search for people, jobs, companies, groups and schools. A filter option will also be given on right side to refine the search.
LinkedIn has fine-tuned its feed to display more relevant content from the publishers and people first. The user will be able to search specific topics and stories by using the search bar.
Users can now see who’s reading and engaging with the content they share, including the company, job title and location of the people who are interested in the updates.
LinkedIn has improved profile suggestions so you can more easily see what you need to do to look your best professionally, for example, suggested skills based on what recruiters are searching for.
These changes will help users to stay updated, productive and ahead in their careers. The feature has already begun to roll out to many users including those in Pakistan. The update will be made available to everyone globally in the coming weeks.
