If you are a fan of Pokemon Go, July may be the most interesting time for you. The much awaited legendary event may soon be happening as hinted in an interview with Niantic’s Asian General Marketing Manager Kenji Suka and Asian General Manager Yoshiji Kawashima with the Japanese website K-Tai Watch.
The interview revealed that the company is working on a major event come the month of July with the mechanics for the event currently being developed. The mechanics include player trading, PvP and raids. Niantic revealed that there are many events planned for the year similar to the recently completed Water Festival.
Kawashima is quoted saying “I hope you are looking forward to this huge event this summer. Please look forward to it. Engineers are working hard now so that new functions can be implemented.” Such a statement from an official is a strong indicator that the event coming in July is a major one.
Further on, the company is said to be partnering with governments to ensure that large public events are carried out legally and with safety to the participants. Even more enticing is the rumor that it could be working on a VR headset for its games. A Reddit user has revealed that there is a likelihood of a public event from code strings such as:
“{0} lost a battle!”
“{0} was defeated in battle!”
“{0} fainted at the Gym!”
“{0} is back after a hard battle!”
“{0} was forced off the Gym!”
“{0} has fought hard and returned!”
“{0} is hungry!”
“{0} needs a pick-me-up!”
“{0} wants a berry!
“{0} was victorious in battle!”
“{0} has triumphed over your opponents!”
“{0} defended the Gym!”
“There’s a raid about to start near you!”
“A raid’s going to start nearby!”
“Nearby raid starting soon!”
