Legal notice served to PTCL President

An advocate of Lahore High Court has sent a legal notice to the CEO of PTCL regarding holding of illegal meetings with the fake representatives of Pak Telecom Employees Union (CBA).

The legal notice has been served to CEO PTCL Daniel Ritz by Advocate Ishtiaq A. Chaudhry under the instruction of his client Hassan Muhammad Rana. The notice states,

“This legal notice is being served upon you under the instructions of my client namely Mr. Hassan Muhammad Rana in regard of Continuous dealing/ meeting of PTCL management with the fake Representative of Pak Telecom Employees Union (CBA) in violation to the order dated 20.04.16 passed in writ Petitions bearing No.30602/14; 26687/14 in which the Honorable Lahore High court Lahore had clearly declared the fraudulent Position of Mr.Lala M.Hanif and to called President of the union Mr.Ziauddin as bogus.”

Daniel Ritz was appointed the President & CEO of the PTCL Group last year. He succeeded Walid Irshaid, who was President & CEO of the PTCL Group since March 2007.

Lala Hanif and Hassan M. Rana were the union leaders in 2010 when the PTCL workers started a protest to demand an increase in their salary and PTCL fired hundreds of workers back then. Lahore High Court declared the positions of Lala Hanif and Ziauddin as bogus in a court hearing last year.

It is evident from the notice that PTCL CEO has been continuously holding meetings with the fake representatives of Pak Telecom Employees Union (CBA). The notice further states,

“It is also intimated that complaints qua misappropriation of Union funds amounting to Rs. 20,55,000/ are also under process before Director FIA Lahore against these aforesaid persons who are disseminating threats and chaos among the workers to opt the new designed pay scheme which is illegal and unlawful in absence of any mandate under the law.”

The notice prompts the CEO to direct HR department not to hold any meeting/dialogue with the above named alleged union representative. Failing to do so will result in a legal action under Article 204 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
