Leaked Galaxy Fold video shows Samsung’s foldable phone in detail

While Samsung has obviously tried its best to keep its upcoming foldable phone under wraps for as long as possible, a leaked video has managed to make its way to us, and it shows the Galaxy Fold in stark detail, including the display crease.

Even though the foldable handset was showcased alongside the Galaxy S10 on 20 February, the South Korean conglomerate did not allow press members to go hands-on with it. Furthermore, its presence in a secure glass box with strategic lighting in the Mobile World Congress 2019 event underscores Samsung’s attitude towards its upcoming piece of innovation.

Then there’s the fact that even after the Galaxy Fold has been released, access to it will remain limited because the smartphone behemoth has a very short production run in plan and won’t make the phone easily available inside its own stores.

In spite of this caution, Samsung did publish a 4-minute video last month, as well as a whole host of official renders from many different angles. Now, a new hands-on video has popped up on the Internet that displays the smartphone in the greatest amount of detail yet, without hiding anything.

This video apparently originated in Vietnam, where most of Samsung’s research and development takes place. The device featured in it is the AT&T variant of the Galaxy Fold, which consists of a highly visible crease running down the middle of its display. Of course, foldable smartphones aren’t complete without a crease, and this is the first time we are getting to see it on Samsung’s upcoming flagship.

The video also shows the foldable device closing with a solid snapping mechanism which suggests that the hinge is as rigid and effective as Samsung claims it to be. We also get a good look at the cover display, and it’s actually larger than we thought.

Samsung is going to release the Galaxy Fold on April 26, starting with the USA and South Korea in all probability.
