LAHORE: Thursday saw the opening of Bikers Lane on Ferozepur Road by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
In a 10-kilometer section of Ferozepur Road between Canal Road and Lahore Bridge, LDA built Bikers Lane as a trial project for motorcyclists and bicyclists.
Similar lanes will be gradually built on other roads in the capital of Punjab when the pilot project is successful.
The Bikers Lane, built like the ones in Beijing, will help lower road accidents. In addition, the project will help in enhancing the flow of traffic on Lahore’s congested arteries.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has asked people to help make the project successful. According to her, other city roads will gradually get the same treatment as the pilot program.
