Lahore Knowledge Park promises lift education standard in Pakistan

Chief Minister of Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, announced on new initiative named “Knowledge Park” from the government to help encourage the growth of education in the city of Lahore. The project will be a first of its kind in the history of Pakistan offering various facilities under one convenient location. The Chief Minister added that the setting up of campuses of prominent local and foreign education institutes in the country will help boost the education quality.


The Punjab government has shown deep interest in education considering it an important need for rapid development and progress of Pakistan. Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif attributed Pakistan’s internal problems of extremism, poverty, terrorism and unemployment to the lack of education. The growth of education will help enrich the future generations towards a more prosperous Pakistan. He added that Daanish Schools, providing quality education to children in low-income areas of the province, will help reach the right audience.

Knowledge Park is being established under the strategy of promoting education. The project will not only cater to residents of Lahore but also the whole country and perhaps with time, international students as well.

The Park will offer residential, recreational facilities and much more for the benefit of teachers and the students (local and foreign). The promotion of education, research, science and technology is of utmost importance and Knowledge Park will help bridge the gap standing in between Pakistan and its prosperity.

The Chief Minister issued instructions to set up a sub-committee in regard to presenting the final report reviewing all the matters regarding the project. Among key officials who attended the meeting included: Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chairman Planning & Development, secretaries of Finance, Higher Education departments, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, educationists and concerned officials.
