Lahore Emerges as the World’s Most Polluted City with Poor Air Quality

Lahore, the second largest city in Pakistan, has been crowned the world’s most polluted city with unhealthy air quality persisting throughout the day.

The city stands as the worst city in terms of air quality with AQI rising to 170 today.

In the latest AQI reports, Lahore has again been ranked among the most polluted cities, and the air quality above 217 is considered dangerous. Some of the areas have even crossed this figure with Thokar Niaz Baig at 272 and Syed Maratab Ali Road at 259.

Due to high pollution levels authorities have imposed section 144, banning certain gatherings for the safety of the people. Karachi is today the 7th most polluted city in Pakistan and Peshawar is the second with particulate matter at 177.

The weather of Karachi for the coming days will be partly cloudy and hot and humid, the same as today. The lowest temperature has been at 27.6C, the highest temperature is expected to be 35 degrees, and the humidity level is at 78 percent. With air pollution getting worse, health departments are urging people to protect themselves from toxic emissions.

Limit outdoor physical activities to avoid contact with polluted air.

  • Close Your Windows:

Avoid opening windows to let in contaminated outside air into your house.

  • Wear a Mask Outdoors:

Wear a mask when in the streets to shield yourself from toxic substances.

  • Run an Air Purifier:

Take an air purifier indoors in order to minimize the presence of pollutants in the air.
