KPITB launches advanced Digital Skills Training Programme in collaboration with UNDP and Abacus Consulting

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) have collaborated with Abacus Consulting to train and educate the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on advanced digital skills under UNDP’s ‘Kamyab Jawan: Youth Empowerment Programme’ and KPITB’s ‘KP Youth Employment Program’. The Advanced Digital Skills Training Programme is a platform that connects the youth in KP with the digital skills needed to help them acquire jobs and other paid work using the internet.

Courses will be offered in modules that will equip the students with the skills needed to access digital opportunities, both in Pakistan and across the globe. The students will be trained on Amazon Web Services (AWS Foundation and AWS Solutions Architect), Microsoft Azure (MCSD: Web Applications) and Big Data Analytics (Cloudera Certified Associate). This project is powered by KPITB, funded by UNDP Pakistan and is being executed by Abacus Consulting, Dice Analytics and VaporVM.

While sharing the vision of this project, Dr.Shahbaz Khan, Managing Director, KPITB explained the role of KPITB and said, “KPITB intends to minimize the industry-academia skills gap by offering Advanced Digital Skills trainings that can enhance employability in a changing economy.”

Akbar Khan Durrani, Youth Employment and Private Sector Development Specialist, UNDP Pakistan emphasized on the need to invest in our youth by preparing them with quality education and employment opportunities. He said, “We need to encourage the women of KP to apply for this programme, to empower them and encourage gender parity in the tech industry.”

Abbas Khan, Managing Director, Abacus Consulting explained the benefits of the trainingand said, “There is huge potential in the tech industry of Pakistan, where many talented developers are eager to hone their digital skills but do not have the means to do so. Abacus Consulting’s certified experts will be delivering Amazon Web Services (AWS) coaching to 500 trainees in this programme. According to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report, AWS has been a leader in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) industry for the ninth consecutive year and predicts an increasing trend in employment opportunities. We have also executed a university drive in Pakistan to encourage the youth to opt for AWS trainings and certifications for a successful career.”

This programme will coach 1,200 candidates in KP on modern digital skills and will empower them to take on new jobs, while helping businesses become truly agile and intelligent enterprises in today’s world. The programme has been designed by closely considering market trends and job opportunities to help KP’s youth play a vital role in flourishing Pakistan’s economy.

Registrations for this programme are now open at www.kpyep.com till September 18, 2019.
