Kia Pakistan is preparing to make a significant entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market as the company is expected to launch its first electric vehicle in the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2024 from October 25th-27th in Lahore.

This announcement follows earlier reports from August 2024, and Kia’s first EV could be one of the models, EV3, EV5, EV6, or EV9. The decision was made at a time when a new wave of entrants into the EV market has already started to disrupt the automotive market in Pakistan, with big global players like BYD starting their operations in the country.

Additionally, Changan has recently launched its new EV brand Deepal while Eco-Green Motors and Regal Automobiles have gotten licenses for assembling vehicles including Honri Ve and Seres3.

Recently, Kia Pakistan shared a teaser on social media, stating, “Kia is setting the stage for what’s next. Stay tuned for the Pakistan Auto Show as we unveil a new chapter of movement.” Accompanying this announcement was a video featuring the tagline, “Stay tuned to electrify your future,” hinting at the introduction of their EV.

While the specific model has not yet been confirmed, but industry experts believe it is either the EV5 or EV6. However, Kia previously introduced the Niro EV in early 2023, and information on that vehicle has been restricted.

The market expects Kia to debut its EV soon, which bodes well for the local automobile business. Hyundai Pakistan is also anticipated to showcase a new Elantra hybrid at the PAPS, demonstrating the industry’s shift towards electrification with Kia.
