The KIA Sportage Hybrid, globally launched in 2021 as part of the 5th generation lineup, has been spotted on Pakistani roads, confirming that Lucky Motors is in the final stages of testing the model and fueling anticipation for its upcoming launch in the country.
The 5th generation Sportage was initially sighted on Sindh’s GT Road during the road testing as per the data from the Sindh Excise Department. This specific unit was registered under Lucky Motors Corporation Limited (LMCL), KIA’s official distributor in Pakistan. The vehicle’s unique features, such as its updated rims, taillights, and body design, were evident.
Kia’s upcoming Sportage 5th generation, also known as the NQ5, has sparked substantial interest as a result of its hybrid powertrain, advanced safety features, and contemporary design. The model is a highly anticipated addition to Pakistan’s SUV market, as it guarantees a seamless driving experience and enhanced fuel efficiency.
The 5th generation Kia Sportage is anticipated to be priced in Pakistan at a range of Rs 9 to 10 million. The vehicle’s sophisticated features are reflected in this price, which establishes it as a formidable competitor in the competitive SUV market. An 8-speed automatic transmission, a redesigned front grille, pointed vertical headlamps, and updated bumpers and taillights are among the key specifications. The hybrid engine generates 177 horsepower (132 kW / 180 PS), which is supplemented by a 64 horsepower (47.7 kW) electric motor.
The vehicle offers wheel size options of 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Within the Sportage, there are dual 12.3-inch digital displays, a head-up display, a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, and updated A/C vents. It is equipped with ADAS technology, a driver-facing camera, vibration alerts, and smart regenerative braking with paddle shifters for safety. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with a new two-way absorber for the front strut, which further improves its ride quality.
Kia will initially introduce the Sportage prior to CBU, and subsequently transition to CKD units as the production vehicles. Kia’s expansion agenda in the country is perfectly suited to the burgeoning market for environmentally responsible automobiles, which is why this new model is being introduced.
Although the exact release date of the Sportage 5th generation remains unknown, rumours suggest that it may be introduced in Pakistan within the next year. The local automotive market is still anticipating the release of this environmentally friendly and technologically advanced SUV, which is expected to disrupt the official race upon its release.
