Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has officially launched its first government innovation lab in Peshawar.
On Twitter, KPITB shared images of the formal opening of its government innovation lab under the ‘Durshal’ project, which means gateway in Pashto. Durshal is envisioned to bring the digital transformation of the province by focussing on the emerging businesses, digital governance, and active participation of the people in IT sector. The project is expected to increase the overall economic growth of the KPK. The digital lab will soon be opening its doors to public and startups.
The project is aimed to focus on two core pillars of the KPK’s digital policy, that are digital governance and digital economy. Durshal will help the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to develop digital skills by giving them access to desired training and resources in physical spaces outside of the university where they can collaborate, research and kickstart civic innovation projects. One of the key goals is also to ensure equal opportunities for women towards the digital revolution of the province.
Senior Minister for Health & Information Technology, Shahram Khan Tarakai along with other dignitaries who were present on the occasion, expressed his optimism towards this new initiative of KPITB,
“KP IT Board’s Durshal initiative is the much-needed step towards ensuring the province’s digital transformation. The provincial government is continuously pursuing its vision by investing in the youth of the province which will trigger the economic growth of the province. I am really excited for this project as it would not only contribute to the Digital Economy but also provide a better solution in terms of Digital Governance.”
