Keep your cell phones away from your body, Warning from Public Health Department

The California Department of Public Health (CPDH) has issued a warning about the hazards of cell phones radiation.

Cellphones had become the basic means of communication in the society. These cell phones have revolutionized the communication in the 21st century. However, these mobiles can provide an easy and effective way to communicate with your family, friends, and others but an excessive use of it can also cause harm to your health.

The CDPH alerts people to maintain a safe distance to their mobile phones when its possible, to reduce the radiation waves exposure. As these devices are transmitting radio and electromagnetic waves, it can cause short term or long -term effects on your health.

The warning was issued after analyzing a public document of CDPH Division of Environmental and Occupational Disease Control. It was published following an order of the Sacramento Superior Court in 2009.

Cell phones emit radio frequency waves when they send and receive signals from cell towers that can be a risk factor for mental and physical health issues.

Cell phone usage in the US has been rapidly increasing in the recent years.

The body absorbs the cell phone signals with respect to distance. A phone held a couple of inches from the body delivers hundreds of times less radiation to the body as one held against the skin.

According to the CDPH guide, there are many ways to reduce these harmful effects.

  • Keep your phone away from your body.
  • Avoid using a cell phone when it is sending out a high level of radio frequency.
  • Don’t sleep next to your phone or avoid placing it near to your head.
  • Remove the head et when you are not on call.
  • Set to airplane mode, when it’s not in use.

Several reviews and a couple meta-analyses had been conducted over the past decade to summarize the research on hazards of cell phones. The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) had suggested that the cell phone users had to keep a minimum distance of 20 centimeters from their handset to significantly reduce radiation exposure.
