Kazakhstan Introduces Neo Nomad Visa to Attract Global Remote Workers

Kazakhstan has unveiled its new Neo Nomad visa, aimed at attracting skilled professionals from around the globe. Launched under the directive of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, this initiative seeks to position Kazakhstan as a top destination for remote workers, offering a mix of cultural experiences, scenic beauty, and a productive work environment.

The Neo Nomad visa enables professionals to reside and work in Kazakhstan for a maximum of one year, thereby enabling them to thoroughly immerse themselves in the country. The visa application procedure is intended to be simple, thereby simplifying the process for qualified applicants.

Eligibility Criteria for the Neo Nomad Visa

This visa is open to international professionals working in sectors such as programming, marketing, design, consulting, and e-commerce, as reported by Travel and Leisure Asia. To qualify, applicants must meet specific requirements:

  • Applicants must be employed by a company outside Kazakhstan to ensure local job opportunities are preserved.
  • A stable income of at least USD 3,000 (approximately 833000 PKR) per month is required.
  • Proof of valid health insurance is necessary for the application.
  • Applicants must have a clean criminal record to be eligible.

Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, emphasized that the Neo Nomad visa is a strategic measure to increase the country’s allure to digital nomads. The initiative’s objective is to establish Almaty and Astana as international remote professional centers by integrating contemporary infrastructure with a diverse cultural landscape.

The government anticipates that the Neo Nomad visa will increase tourism and benefit local businesses by attracting a diverse array of global talent. It is anticipated that this strategic move will promote economic development, promote cultural exchange, and establish Kazakhstan as a competitive destination within the digital nomad ecosystem.
