KAP Launches AI-Powered Tool Khanmigo to Revolutionize Education in Pakistan

Khan Academy Pakistan (KAP) introduced Khanmigo, an AI-based tool set to transform education by offering personalized learning for students and advanced support for teachers, aligning with its mission to provide accessible, world-class education nationwide.

Khan Academy was established in the United States by Salman Amin Khan, an American educationist. Its objective is to supply free, world-class education to individuals worldwide. It is a platform that generates video lectures on a diverse array of topics and is accessible via YouTube.

Khanmigo, KAP’s AI-powered tool, acts as a tutor for students, offering personalized support and facilitating the comprehension of intricate concepts at the student’s own tempo. It provides instructors with valuable resources, such as automated lesson planning and personalized feedback tools, which facilitate the management of classroom responsibilities and the promotion of student engagement.

In general, Khanmigo’s objective is to enhance the quality of education by increasing the accessibility of learning and the efficiency of instruction. The tool is intended to be compatible with a diverse array of devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Speaking on the occasion, KAP CEO Zeeshan Hasan said that Pakistan is a nation of 250 million people where a 24-25 million segment has never even seen the inside of a classroom. “Khanmigo will give every child in Pakistan the access to world class education,” he said.

He stated that most of the educational content in the region is in English; however, Khanmigo is capable of assisting students and teachers in a variety of languages. “So you can have a teacher in Gilgit-Baltistan using the same tools as a teacher in Karachi but in his or her own language,” the KAP CEO pointed out.

A brief presentation demonstrated how educators can employ the Khanmigo tool to generate multiple-choice assessments, lesson plans, and prompts. It encourages students to engage in critical thinking rather than providing them with shortcuts when they employ it.

Osman Rashid, a member of the KAP board, stated that the Khanmigo introduction is the realisation of a nine-month-old aspiration to introduce an extraordinary instrument to Pakistan at the grassroots level.

Another KAP board member Amin Hashwani pointed to Pakistan’s population growth rate. “We are producing a population equivalent to the size of Karachi every four years,” he reminded.

“Where will all these children go? Producing quality teachers to teach them is also very expensive. We have a crisis-like situation in education in Pakistan. AI can offer customized individual education to the masses at an affordable level. We have no choice but to adopt this technology to address our education issues,” he said.

KAP has been introduced to Pakistan through the collaboration of local leaders and the Pakistani diaspora. The board is composed of prominent educationalists, technology entrepreneurs, and business executives who are united in their pursuit of enhancing Pakistan’s future trajectory by enhancing the quality of education for the general public.
