Jazz Promises Rs1bn for Flood Relief Activities

In collaboration with its digital financial services JazzCash and sister business Mobilink Microfinance Bank, Jazz has committed a total of PKR 1 billion to the cause of providing much-needed emergency supplies and, more importantly, telecommunications services to those affected by the floods.

The assistance will consist of activities that are either short- or medium-term in nature and will last over one year.

As part of this urgent deployment, Jazz will collaborate closely with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the government to facilitate the delivery of emergency commodities such as food, shelter, and medical supplies.

In addition, the relief effort makes it easier for Jazz customers to designate the charitable organizations that will receive donations through SMS and JazzCash. Volunteer contributions from Jazz workers will also be made to support humanitarian efforts around the country.

“During this unprecedented time, while our thoughts and prayers are with the flood affectees, we are also committed to ensuring connectivity to aid relief efforts,” said Aamir Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of Jazz. “We are also committed to extending a helping hand to our fellow citizens in terms of emergency supplies.”

“It is a duty for us to react to Pakistan’s moment of need, and we will go all the way in restoring the lives of those who have been impacted,” he continued. “We will go all the way in repairing the lives of those who have been affected.”

Since the connection is a lifeline during any crisis, a large portion of the funding will be focused on maintaining free and subsidized services for access to emergency care and rescue helplines. This is because connectivity is a lifeline during any crisis.

The firm has also sped up the sign-up procedure for JazzCash mobile wallets to facilitate immediate relief efforts by contributors making direct payments to members of the local community who the floods have worst hit.

Over the last 27 years, Jazz has been at the vanguard of efforts to resolve every crisis in Pakistan. The latest flood is no exception to this pattern of the organization stepping up to fulfill its national obligation.
