Jazz has introduced a digital policy framework for the Government of Pakistan, titled “Accelerate to a Digital State”. The policy framework was presented to Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for IT & Telecommunication (MoITT), at the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of National Incubation Center Islamabad.
As the leading digital company of Pakistan, Jazz has been working alongside the Government towards the vision of Digital Pakistan. Addressing the policy needs for the local digital ecosystem, Jazz, and its parent company, VEON have been developing the framework with the support of MoITTT for National Digitalization. The policy framework has been drafted after the telecom company analyzed seven developing countries who already have a digital policy in place. Sharing her views about Accelerate to a Digital State, Anusha Rehman said,
“While we embark on the journey of empowering our communities through technology, it is pertinent to look at other countries, which are ahead of us on the digitalization curve. This is where Jazz comes in with its global expertise under its Group, Veon. Their digital policy framework looks to assist the government in achieving its SDGs through digitalization”
The policy framework addresses the urgency and critical need for formulating a prioritized National Digital Agenda and Strategy that accelerates progress in various key areas that can transform Pakistan to be a Digital State. These focus areas include:
