Jazz and Oxfam join hands to digitally empower women in Pakistan

Oxfam, a leading organization of 20 NGOs and Jazz are partnering up to empower women across Pakistan which includes an increase in socioeconomic opportunities and creation of a digitally inclusive environment. The main objective is to target poverty within the country through sustainability and achieving these objectives in light of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Youth Empowerment is the core focus which aligns both organizations. Through the creation of innovative solutions and Jazz’s Make Your Mark program, the organizations intend to achieve these results and alleviate poverty from this particular segment. Oxfam already has a Girl Child Education program and with Jazz, they will also impart key digital skills amongst women across 38 schools in Sindh and Punjab.

Oxfam will be actively working on implementing “Empower Youth for Work” whereas Jazz will utilize its own channels on the sidelines for youth empowerment and preparing the public for the digital age. Both organizations also intend to implement their programs in rural areas through a collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

Syed Ali Naseer, Chief Corporate and Enterprise Officer at Jazz said:

Youth empowerment is a core focus that aligns with the social mandates of both Jazz and Oxfam. We realize that there is an urgent need to work to address poverty alleviation by introducing digital literacy tools for young girls in underserved areas. Young people must absorb the skills required to thrive in a futuristic economy.

Country Director Oxfam in Pakistan Mohammed Qazilbash said:

“With the ICT resources and tools at Jazz’s disposal and Oxfam’s local and global developmental expertise, both organizations can bridge the education gaps in our public schools by imparting digital skills and collaborating to create a more ICT-ready job base for young people, particularly women.”

The efforts of both organizations are in line with the SDG 4 (Quality Education) and in the future, they will be introducing new strategies to further increase efforts for youth empowerment and digital transformation of the society.
