According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), IT and Telecom exports for the first six months of the current fiscal year have seen a significant growth of 3.78%. Previously the exports stood at $520.043 million whereas, for the current period, they have risen to $539.710 million.
Going into further details, call center services exports have reached $49.640 million, which is a growth of 9.28 percent from the previous period. However, telecommunication exports have seen a massive decline of 24.57 percent, now standing at $98.740 million versus $130.909 million previously.
In regards to computer services, they have seen a growth of 13.67 percent, the total revenue now stands at a massive $389.830 million compared to $342.940 million in the previous period. Revenue from software consultancy has also considerably risen, from $140.471 million to $175.127 million, a growth of 24 percent. Import and export services of computer software have also seen a 1 percent increase in revenue.
While software exports show a major boost, hardware consultancy services exports saw a major decline of 65 percent, only scoring $0.901 million in revenue this period. In other areas such as news agency services, there was an increase in revenue of 7.21 percent whereas computer and information services witnessed a growth of 4.24 percent in revenue, the figure now stands at $98 million. The trade deficit in services has also seen a decline of almost 29 percent in these particular sectors.
