Islamabad Police introduces an Android app to help citizens

To facilitate civilians by adopting new technologies must be a top priority of the state’s institutions. A similar and anticipated step has been taken by Islamabad police to facilitate citizens of the country by launching an Android app. The app will be greatly helpful for citizens of Islamabad as it will provide them full support and assistance from the department in case of an emergency or in a state of panic.

The app has various useful features, users can report incidents (harassment, assault, accidents etc.) and can send a picture, video/audio of the incident directly to the police using the app. The app also provides the users with the phone numbers of important institutions of the police. Users will be also notified of the reports and announcements by the police stations. The app also features a ‘panic button’ which allows the user to alert their predefined contacts in case of an emergency or contact Islamabad Police helpline in case of an emergency.

Interestingly, the app also features a “Services” section, with the help of which users can even pay their traffic fines, register tenants, verify vehicle numbers, and can even access the website of Islamabad Police. In addition, the app has several other menus including the one with the important information of the police stations, like their locations using Google Maps, names and contact details of SHO’s, SDPO’s, and SP’s of respective police stations.

Another motivating feature for young citizens is that the app lets you become a volunteer by filling a simple form available within the app. Users can also listen to the live FM Radio to get updates on the city’s traffic and other important news.

The app is currently being tested and it’s in beta version, that’s why we are unable to get the name, Google Play Store link, or other info about the app. We will update the story and will notify you.
