Lead by Sheba Najmi in Pakistan, Civic Hackathon is happening in the capital city, Islamabad, next month from July 16-17. Innovators, developers, designers, marketing experts, in short, everyone who is interested in solving civic issues will be gathering to develop meaningful products from scratch.
This is not the first time Civic Hackathon is happening in the country. Under ‘Code for Pakistan’, civic hackathons have been previously organized in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Peshawar. A lot of impactful startups have also emerged through these activities. For example, Active Shehri, an online portal that allows citizens to report any misconduct, suspicious activities or any issues regarding themselves; Lighthouse 2.0, a former winner at Islamabad Civic Hackathon, is startup aiming to bridge the communication gap between a parent and teacher so that a child’s academic performance can be efficiently managed.
If you’re enthusiastic about solving Pakistan’s civic challenges using your expertise in the field of Computer Science, then consider attending the Civic Hackathon. All you need to do is bring in ideas and the will to work, the mentors present at the event will guide you on how to lift off your project from the ground.
