A report from Gartner has forecasted that if smartphones sales increase in 2018 then it would have happened only because of iPhone X. The iPhone X is indeed one of the most expensive phones you can buy right now and many buyers are unhappy about that. Despite being the most expensive, iPhone X is still seen as the main smartphone sales growth driver next year.
According to Gartner’s research, mobile phone sales are expected to return to year-over-year growth next year, with total shipments of 1.9 billion units. Smartphones will make 86% of the figure excluding 14% percent of feature phones. This concludes the 6% growth in sales of smartphones as compared to the year 2017.
The iPhone X is presumed to sell very well next year in various key markets, including, China, North America, and Western Europe.
Gartner research director Robert Cozza forecasted,
“Given the late November availability of the iPhone X, we expect the iPhone’s replacement cycle to flow more strongly into 2018,”
A day ago, a report said that Apple may reach its iPhone X production goal for 2017, but that doesn’t mean it’ll meet consumer demand this year.
Gartner estimates that worldwide device shipments will increase 2% next year, which will be the highest year-over-year growth since 2015. Some 2.35 billion devices must be sold next year, including the 1.9 billion mobile phones mentioned earlier but also tablets and computers.
The research note also says that PCs will return to growth by the end of 2017, and should grow 0.8% next year.
The iPhone X will be available for preorder from 27th of October, and it’ll hit stores a week later, on November 3rd. iPhone X price in Pakistan is expected to be around Rs. 120,000.
