I can’t believe, Google Pixel 2 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro couldn’t even make it to the top 10.
Consumers Report, the firm known for its unbiased product testing has recently published an updated list of its “Best Smartphone Cameras,” which appears to be favoring most of the Apple’s recently launched devices.
Before going through the report, let us first clear that apparently, they haven’t added 2018 flagships in the comparison as neither Galaxy S9 nor Xperia XZ2 made it to the top 10. Furthermore, the list revolves around the smartphones of Apple and Samsung which makes it doubtful that there are other Chinese companies which offer a premium smartphone camera.
Anyhow, our concern here is the report which has tested the smartphones in terms of still photo quality and video quality. Worry not, Samsung is on the list with Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Note 8 and Galaxy S8 Active. Surprisingly, Galaxy Note 8 which boasts a dual camera is ranked below S8 and S8+, even the smartphone boasts a dual rear camera with many additional features.
On the other hand, all the three top spots have acquired by Apple’s last year’s flagships i.e. iPhone X then iPhone 8 and then, iPhone 8 Plus. The reason hereof putting iPhone 8 Plus on the third spot remains unknown. Whereas, iPhone X and iPhone 8 to be “excellent” for video quality. The Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and S8 Active also did well but were beat out by Apple’s offerings. The report leveled the remarks by saying,
“All of the top 10 phones did very well in our tests of still-image quality, which evaluate resolution, dynamic range, color accuracy, and visual noise. The all-around top performers in that area were the iPhone X and 8 Plus, which just nudged past their iPhone 8 sibling.”
