iPhone beats Samsung in Q3 2017 sales

Q3 has been a strong quarter for Apple and it has even beaten Samsung in sales last quarter in the US. According to a report from Strategy Analytics, Apple took the top spot for most smartphone sales in the US.

39.5 million smartphones were sold in the US last quarter which is 2% less than the 40.1 million phones sold in the same quarter last year. Out of 39.5 million, Apple shipped 12 million phones which is 2.1% less than the 13 million phones sold in a year ago quarter.

However, the market share of Apple remained at the top spot with 30.4% and Samsung came in second with 25.1%. When we talk globally, Apple had a strong quarter with 46.7 million iPhones sold and the company’s quarterly revenue was $52.6 billion. Further breaking down the global revenue shows that the company sold 46.7 million iPhones, 10.3 million iPads, and 5.4 million Macs. The sales were a lot higher than the same quarter last year where Apple made $46.9 billion in revenue and $9 billion in profit with the sales of 45.51 million iPhones, 9.28 million iPads, and 4.89 million Macs.

Apple is expecting strong results for Q1 2018 as well where it expects to make around $87 billion in revenue and it will be its strongest quarter ever.

In the last quarter, Apple made more money from services than AirPods, Apple TV, Watch, and iPad sales combined making it Apple’s best quarter ever for services. Here’s what Tim Cook had to say about it.

“We’re happy to report a very strong finish to a great fiscal 2017, with record fourth-quarter revenue, year-over-year growth for all our product categories, and our best quarter ever for Services,”
