iPhone 7 is the world’s best-selling phone

The first quarter of 2017 has passed, and the iPhone 7 turned out to be the best-selling phone during this period. It’s estimated shipment is around 21.5 million units, which, according to reports, is about 6% of the market-share in the world.

The company’s iPhone 7 Plus, a model that has a bigger screen, and is also followed with a higher price, has around 17.5 million units, and it takes the second place after it won 5% of the market-share in this same time period. The reports are legitimate and were delivered by the firm called Strategy Analytics.

The firm’s Executive Director Strategy Analytics, Neil Mawston, has stated that “Global smartphone shipments reached a robust 353.3 million units in the first quarter of 2017. The top-five most popular models together accounted for 1 in 6 of all smartphones shipped worldwide during the quarter.” So basically, both of today’s two top smartphones are Apple official products.

When it comes to the results on a local scale, Apple’s 5s turned out to be the top model in seven Indian states. Other iOS devices, including the different versions of a smartphone, hold the top five places in the non-metro states.

The third place on the worldwide scale, with 3% of the market share was taken by Oppo, with the outstanding 8.9 million units. This is one of the most popular brands on the territory of China, and it shows signs of growth as it spreads through India as well.

The Director of Strategy Analytics, Linda Sui, has said that Samsung is still preparing to launch it’s the newest hit, Galaxy S8. However, it still managed to get two of its earlier models into the top 5 best selling phones during the first quarter. In the fourth place, it’s Samsung Galaxy J3, with 2% of the market share, and finally, the fifth one is Galaxy J5. This model has 1% of the market-share and will be the final one on this list.

Both models were reported to be midrange devices, and to sell best in Europe and parts of Asia. They also helped a lot when it comes to the recent scandals concerning Note 7’s battery issues.
