iOS 11 has a weird calculator bug, 1+2+3 gets you 24

Although iOS 11 is installed on 55% devices now but Apple is still unable to remove all bugs from it. A recent bug has been spotted by some users and it is related to the calculator. Users have reported that putting “1+2+3” results in either 23 or 24. We all know that the correct answer to 1+2+3 is 6 but the bug is causing it to display 23 or 24 for some reason. You can try it yourself.

The same goes for many other calculations. Apparently, this is due to an animation lag where if you enter numbers too quickly, it results in a wrong calculation. The iPhone does not take the input properly when the buttons are quickly pressed. So the lag is not in the calculator app itself but it is the animation which is causing problems.

A lot of people are discussing this issue on Reddit and here’s what a user has to say:

“Any iOS developers will see what is wrong here: the bug is that the animation that lights up the button is blocking touch events until the animation completes. This is the default behavior for animations, but to make an app feel responsive it’s best to find a way around that (it can be a one line fix, but sometimes it is complicated).”

iOS 11 is causing problems since its launch. One of the major problems in iOS 11 is the battery life. It suddenly drains battery without any reason and the overall battery life is a lot lesser than the iOS 10. Some users are pointing out that reverting to iOS 10.3.3 solved their problem which confirms that the problem is on the software side.

Users stormed social media after the problems in iOS 11, here is one of them.

Apple has a lot to fix in the next iOS update which is coming in a month or two. The new iOS 11.1 update will also come with 69 new emoji.
