Intel is going to introduce its mainstream 9th generation processor with 8 cores on October 1st.
As reported by Wccftech, Intel will introduce new Core i9, i7, and i5 chips on October 1st that will be branded as 9th generation processors. Intel’s mainstream processor Core i9-9900K will come along with 8 cores and 16 threads. According to leaked sources, this will be the first mainstream Core i9 desktop processor that will exhibit 16 MB of L3 cache and Intel’s UHD 620 graphics chip.
Other than i9, Intel’s 9th gen Core i7 processor is expected to ship with 8 cores and 8 threads which have previously 6 cores, and the Core i5 shipping with 6 cores and 6 threads. Talking about the clock speeds, core i9 is going to give 3.6 GHz base clock and a 5.0 GHz boost clocks in single and dual core operations.
PC Builders club also reported that Intel may be moving away from thermal interface material, that is used of current processors. The company will switch to a novel soldered heat spreader design. The next generation of Intel CPU’s will feature clock-speed boosts as compared to predecessors.
It was also reported that Intel has started developing a 28-core 5GHz CPU that will be launched later this year. It’s the first time a single socket desktop CPU cram in many cores, and it is certainly powerful than ever before. Intel promises to launch the chip by the Q4 of 2018.
Intel is also working to develop a 28-core g5GHz processor that is expected to launch this year. Intel has dominated computing processors for more than a decade, taking major market share in this domain. But not anymore, as Samsung has outranked Intel to become the world’s largest chip maker by revenue.
