Instagram will be rolling out a major design update to all profiles over the next few weeks so that users can better express themselves. As you can see in the picture above, there are several more tabs on the profile section which include photos in a “Grid” layout, normal posts, IGTV videos and posts where the person has been tagged. It’s a major change over the 3 tabs which we currently have.
These changes will be tested in phases and will roll out to a small audience before a mass update is released. The changes will be coming to icons, buttons and the way we navigate through our profile. All this is being to make the interface cleaner and simpler to use.
The redesign announcement comes at a time that Facebook is under scrutiny for data breaches and Mark Zuckerberg is under pressure to leave his CEO position. All that isn’t stopping them to continue releasing updates and adding new features to their products, Instagram is expected to use Machine Learning tools to remove fake likes and followers or perhaps a shopping app of its own to compete with the likes of Amazon and others.
