Instagram will now let its users share their content on multiple Instagram accounts in one single tap. The confirmation comes from an Instagram spokesperson who stated that Instagram will soon roll out this feature for better user experience.
Instagram, in recent times, has been bringing a lot of new features for better user experience. The latest feature that the popular social media app has brought is the “self-gram” feature. This feature allows sharing to multiple Instagram accounts much easier. In simple words, if a user has more than one Instagram account and is logged into several other accounts through the app, an option will now be available to share that post on multiple accounts.
So instead of having to post one image at a time, users will now be able to share their content across different profiles simultaneously. This feature will save some time for those people who use several Instagram accounts for their promotional images and advertisements.
This feature might face some criticism since Instagram is swaying away from originality and is shifting the balance towards simplicity. While “self-gram” will help a lot of users, it may very well clutter the Instagram feed as the audience will now see the same shots and captions being repeated several times. The desire and motive to keep the Instagram feed original have been the driving force up till now, but this change in policy may very well destroy Instagram’s ‘original and unique content’ reputation.
To clear things a bit, this feature is not the “Regram” feature which according to reports will allow users to share other people’s post similar to the retweet feature on Twitter. Many reports in 2018 suggested that “Regram” will be included in Instagram by the end of 2018, however, it hasn’t arrived yet.
Interestingly, the co-founder of Instagram Kevin Systrom, before quitting in September 2018, gave an interview in which he said that that he and his team debated a lot on the “Regram” feature and according to him, “keeping your feed focused on the people you know rather than the people you know finding other stuff for you to see” was the central policy of Instagram. He further added that it was “more of a testament of our focus on authenticity and on the connections you actually have than about anything else.”
The feature is currently only available for iOS devices and it’s unknown how much time it will take for it to arrive on the Android platform.
