Instagram might be working on a shopping app of its own

The popular photo-sharing platform might be working on a stand-alone shopping application of its own.

Reports are in that Instagram might be making its move towards the ecommerce side world as it reportedly is working on an application called IG Shopping that would allow the general users of this platform to browse different products from the businesses they follow and make purchases right from within the application.

To make the case more credible, the sources state that the social media is also looking for a Product Marketing Manager for Shopping, possibly to facilitate the roll-out of this new application. It might be worth mentioning here that the proposed application is still in its development phases and the release date for the application is not known yet. Instagram might cancel the project if it doesn’t seem to be feasible.

There exist as much as 25 million business accounts which might be interested in selling their products to its more than a billion users and Instagram has already been exploring this option a lot. Quite recently Instagram rolled out shopping tools in some countries to allow businesses to display their products. Later, it also added functionality for making bookings at some restaurants from within the application.
