Instagram is adding new features of liking someone’s comment, turn off commenting on a post and removing followers from personal account, in order to create a more welcoming atmosphere.
The photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking application, Instagram wants itself to be a place of ‘positive self-expression’, as the blog states. Instagram will add liking comments feature, with a little heart icon on comments. Previously, Instagram launched the feature of filtering the abusive words and now it will unveil ‘Turn Off Commenting’ feature soon. Kevin Systrom, Cofounder and CEO of Instagram said on blog,
“Comments are where the majority of conversation happens on Instagram. While comments are largely positive, they’re not always kind or welcome. Sometimes there may be moments when you want to let your post stand on its own. Previously this was only available for a small number of accounts. In a few weeks, it will be available for everyone.”
Another feature introduced is ‘Remove Followers from Private Accounts’. Private accounts are for the people who don’t feel comfortable sharing their pictures or videos with people other than their friends and families. In private accounts, users have the control to approve if someone follows them. But once users approve someone, they couldn’t undo the action without blocking them. With the new feature, users will be able to remove the followers without blocking them and without notifying the other person.
Users will be able to report anonymously if they feel someone is struggling or wanting to harm themselves. Instagram works 24/7 to review such reports and offer help.
These features will slowly roll out to everyone.
