Instagram hits 400 Million users, more now than Twitter

The famous photo sharing social network announced today that it has hit a userbase of 400 million instagrammers. Instagram now boasts a bigger user base than Twitter.

In addition to this, instagram seems quite thrilled about the diversity in their user-base. Its blog read:

Our community has evolved to be even more global, with more than 75 percent living outside of the US. To all the new Instagrammers: welcome! Among the last 100 million to join, more than half live in Europe and Asia. The countries that added the most Instagrammers include Brazil, Japan and Indonesia.

Unlike Twitter, which has been having trouble posting impressive growth numbers, Instagram seems to be on the fast track. The 400 million user announcement came only nine months after it celebrated 300 million users. While Twitter has a mere 316 million users.

This news should also make advertisers happy because many were worried that the new Instagram ads might scare away many users but does not seem to be the case.
