Instagram and Facebook restored worldwide after temporary outage

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Meta Platforms’ Facebook and Instagram were fully restored for most users after an outage affecting thousands in the United States on Monday.

Downdetector, which monitors outages by compiling status reports from various sources, indicates that at its peak around 1:35 p.m. ET(10:35 p.m. PKT), over 12,000 individuals reported problems with Facebook, and over 5,000 reported problems with Instagram.

According to Downdetector, the number of Instagram outages has decreased to approximately 450 and the number of Facebook outages has decreased to 659 as of 2:09 p.m. ET(11:09 p.m. PKT). User reports are the foundation of Downdetector’s statistics. Additionally, the exact number of affected users may differ.

Early this year, there was a technical problem that shut down Facebook and Instagram for more than two hours, affecting hundreds of thousands of people around the world.

At the peak of the outage, Downdetector received more than 550,000 complaints of interruptions for Facebook and approximately 92,000 for Instagram.
