Indian Teen Influencer Dies While Live-Streaming on Instagram

In a tragic incident, 19-year-old social media influencer Ankur Nath from Nawagarh, Chhattisgarh, died by suicide while live-streaming on Instagram. The event, which took place on December 30th, 2024, was witnessed by at least 21 followers who were unable to intervene in time.

Preliminary inquiries indicate that Nath’s decision was affected by emotional turmoil following a romantic heartbreak. Her parents, employed in Hyderabad, were taken aback and remarked on her active involvement with social media, where she often shared posts that garnered significant attention.

During the live stream, some followers attempted to reach Nath, with a few locals rushing to her residence in Nawagarh, approximately 150 kilometers from Raipur. Upon arrival, they discovered that the house was locked from inside. Neighbors intervened by breaking down the door, but unfortunately, it was too late. Nath was declared dead at a nearby health center.

The Nawagarh police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Nath’s mobile phone has been confiscated for examination by the cyber cell to gather more information.
