Torrenting, undeniably, is one of the most data consuming processes ever. By torrenting, people from all over the world, download HD movies, heavy games, tons of seasons and what not.
The love of people for torrents was well understood when unofficial clone sites of the famous KickassTorrents surfaced in just less than 24 hours after the pull-over of the original KickassTorrents website. New KickassTorrents website continued with the legacy of original KickassTorrents and torrents were being added to it at a quick rate.
As far as India is concerned, major streaming services like Pandora, Spotify, and Google Play Music are not yet available. The ones available have not a reliable content library, Netflix for example. However, Internet Service Providers have tended to relieve the users by providing them higher download speeds for torrenting particularly. Yes, a recent report from TorrentFreak has pointed that Indian Internet Service Providers provide higher speeds specifically for torrenting.
Alliance Broadband, Excitel, Sifi Broadband, Syscon Infoway and True Broadband are among the ISPs who speed up the torrent downloads.
Indian ISPs connect the users with local peers which result in higher speeds. Connecting users with local peers reduces the transfer cost for an Internet Service Provider, that is why ISPs do so. Some of these use it in marketing as well.
Some of these ISPs have partnered with Torbox, a torrent search engine which assists them with local peer linking. Torbox lists the results of any torrent search based on the closeness on of the users who host them.
So, it turns out that a feat to minimize the data traffic costs has proven to be a blessing for Indians.
