Imran Khan is the first Prime Minister of Pakistan to make effective use of social media

It is no secret that Imran Khan, Former test cricketer and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, is very active on Social Media. With nearly 9 million followers on Twitter, he is one of the most followed world leaders in the world. However, the Prime Minister is not limited to using Twitter only. He is effectively using other social media platforms too to make sure that he remains connected with his followers.

With the increasing role of social media in the lives of people all around the world, it is important for world leaders to adopt modern standards and remain connected with their followers through social media. In the past, Prime Ministers and Presidents haven’t made use of social media extensively, relying only on formal channels of communications to relay information to the people. Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with other members of his cabinet and party, have made extensive use of social media to get their message across before and after the 2018 elections.

Twiplomacy, a site dedicated to measuring social media interaction of world leaders has released statistics for the year 2018, and it shows that Imran Khan has been very active on all social media platforms to make sure that his message easily gets across the masses.

According to statistics released by Twiplomacy, Imran Khan is the second most active world leader on Instagram. With more than 729K followers and an average of 10 posts per day, he is only behind the Instagram account of Prime Minister Office of Brunei, which has an average of 17 posts per day.

Imran Khan is also the eighth most followed world leader on Twitter with 8.77 million followers. He is the 12th most influential world leader on Twitter with an average of 2k interactions on his every tweet. Social media is a very effective platform, which is now used more and more by world leaders around the world to convey their message and elaborate their policy decisions to the general public. With fake news becoming more and more common on social media, it is important for official channels to build their presence on these platforms and actively curb the spreading of false information through prompt responses.
