Ignite organizes design thinking workshop to help Pakistani start-ups identify real world problems

The National Technology Fund Ignite in collaboration with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Karachi, organized a one-day design thinking workshop to help local start-ups in Pakistan identify the problems and issues faced by the Japanese companies working in Pakistan.

This workshop provided an opportunity for the local start-ups to use 4th Industrial Wave Revolution Technologies and design thinking approach to learn and get a clear idea about the corporate issues which Japanese firms face in Pakistan. The platform facilitated the interaction of start-ups with relevant stakeholders particularly with Japanese entrepreneurs and helped to exchange knowledge and thoughts regarding the existing problems and how to solve them using the latest technology.

What is design thinking approach

Design thinking is a process used to solve problems through creative thinking. This approach helps to extract, teach, learn and apply human-centered techniques to solve problems in a creative and innovative way. Some of the leading tech companies in the world including Apple, Google, Samsung, and GE have adopted this approach to solve problems effectively and many leading universities around the world are teaching the design thinking approach to their students.

Yusuf Hussain the CEO Ignite during the workshop said, “The development of technology entrepreneurship is a priority of the Government, as a driver of growth and jobs. Collaborations between Japanese conglomerates and Pakistani start-ups and IT companies should help achieve these goals by providing opportunities for tech product and solution development in Pakistan that will also improve the competitiveness and productivity of Japanese corporations”.

Furthermore, the workshop also provided an opportunity for the members to discuss projects related to academia, industry and government institutions.
